Example 1

Your standard delivery option has a base charge of £5, and a per item surcharge of £1. Your standard delivery option is set up to use price bands, and the applicable price band has a fee of £10.

There are 3 items in the basket.

Your business is in the UK, and the customer's delivery address is in the UK. As the customer is in the same country as you, there are no applicable surcharges for this customer's delivery zone (eg continent).

Your customer's postcode does not fall into an area with a postcode surcharge.

So the customer will be charged as follows:-

A. Base charge for the delivery option - £5
PLUS
B. Surcharge for each item - £1 x 3 items in the basket = £3
PLUS
C. Price for the relevant price band or weight band - £10
PLUS
D. surcharge for the Delivery Zones, eg continents (if applicable) - £0
PLUS
E. surcharge for the delivery country (if applicable) - £0

F. Surcharge for the postcode (if applicable) - £0
PLUS
G. Individual surcharges for individual items (if applicable) - £0

Total delivery charge = £18

Example 2

As per example 1, except:-
  • The customer is in Germany, and your Delivery Zones (eg Continent) settings are configured so customers in Europe are charged a surcharge of £15

  • One of the items in their basket is a bulky item, and as such you have an individual item delivery surcharge setup for that item of £10

So the customer will be charged as follows:-

A. Base charge for the delivery option - £5
PLUS
B. Surcharge for each item - £1 x 3 items in the basket = £3
PLUS
C. Price for the relevant price band or weight band - £10
PLUS
D. surcharge for the Delivery Zones, eg continents (if applicable) - £15
PLUS
E. surcharge for the delivery country (if applicable) - £0
PLUS
F. Surcharge for the postcode (if applicable) - £0
PLUS
G. Individual surcharges for individual items (if applicable) - £10

Total delivery charge = £43

Example 3

As per example 1, except:-
  • The customer is in the outer hebrides in Scotland, and their postcode is setup on your website manager so that they are charged a delivery surcharge of £5

PLUS
F. Surcharge for the postcode (if applicable) - £5
PLUS
G. Individual surcharges for individual items (if applicable) - £0

Total delivery charge = £23
