Why are my images low quality / low resolution?

Most modern day cameras / phones will easily take pictures that are

High resolution, around 3000+px in width / height
Have a small file size

However, there are some scenarios in which your images will be low quality or too small for your website. In this case, below are some solutions that may aid you.

My pictures are blurry

If you are having an issue with blurry images, then chances are that -:

The images you have taken are not in focus
The images you have taken are too low resolution ( EG 500px x 500px )
The lens of your camera is dirty

To solve this, please ensure that your device is correctly calibrated to take photos that are in focus, and ensure your photography device is not broken. Also make sure that your camera lens isn't dirty, as this can be a common issue with phones especially.

My pictures are high quality and high resolution, but when editing the images the file quality is poor

In some cases, you may be using a 3rd party app or service to edit your images. If this is the case, then make sure that the 'save' or 'export' settings for the images in the editing software is correctly configured and not reducing the resolution of your images. This will depend on what software you are using to export your images, so make sure to read the manual or have a look around for best export setings for your application.

If you are also cropping images, then there is a high likelihood that you are cropping too much of the image making the resolution of your images too small. To solve this, try and take photographs with the end result in mind, rather than just taking a quick photo and cutting out the main picture's 'focus point' at a later date, as this will ensure that your photo quality is high without having to make any modifications.
