My images are low resolution when taking pictures on my iPhone / iPad

If your storage is full on your iPhone, when you take a picture it will automatically be resized and downgraded in quality then uploaded to the cloud.

To ensure this doesn't happen, please make sure that when taking photos the images are being saved onto your device, and that you have enough storage space for the images, otherwise your iPhone may drastically reduce the size and quality of the images you take.

I've freed up some space, do I now need to retake all my photos?

Unfortunatly, yes. You will need to retake any photos that are low resolution and was saved to the cloud, this is becuase there wasn't enough storage space for your images to be saved in full resolution, meaning a lower quality version of the image was instead taken.

I have plenty of free space, but my photos are still low quality, why?
